Let the uniqueness of each child guide our work

Our Kindergarten

Waverley St Kindergarten is led by a team of enthusiastic and energetic teachers.

The teachers work with individuals and groups of children to support their interests and learning.

As teachers, our passion is for children to become life long independent and confident learners.

Our Whareiti - The Journey
Ehara taku toa i te toa takitahi engari he toa takitini
It is not my strength alone, but the strength of many that contribute to my success

Picture
Paul Daubney, and a group of boys from Nelson College Trade School,  approached us as they were interested in building a whareiti. They came and visited us at kindergarten to look at where it would be placed and then went back to begin the project.

It took many months of hard work but finally the whareiti arrived at Kindergarten.

The whareiti was blessed and the kaiako talked about some tikanga (practices/rules) that we might need to consider when playing there, and with the help of the tamariki, we came up with the kaupapa that it would be a place for quiet and calm (marie), a place where you could go to think (whakaro), and a place to relax....
We welcome all children and their families through our gate at any time.
