Te Whare Manaaki Kindergarten is in the Children’s Ward at Nelson Hospital, a joint endeavour between Nelson Marlborough Health and Nelson Tasman Kindergartens.
Te Whare Manaaki provides a whānau centred, safe, fun, supportive and social learning environment that is culturally responsive to tamariki mā and visitors. Kaiako visit and offer play opportunities for children in the ward who are not able to come to the play room.
Play provides connections with familiar experiences whilst in the hospital setting, supports onging learning and development, and prepares and supports tamariki for and through medical procedures.
The uniqueness of every child is recognised and the partnership with whānau is valued and respected.
