Fulfil the needs of our children and tomorrow they stand strong
Our large outdoor environments enable us to offer a wide range of activities for children to develop their physical skills and confidence; this has a direct correlation to brain development and their academic learning. To enhance what we already have in our own backyard we access Burrell Park to run Physical Fun sessions

In Harakeke we are using the language of 'Habits of Mind' to grow your child's image of themselves as a learner, their understanding of how they learn, and to challenge them to experience new ways of learning.

At Te Rito we use the language and practices of ‘He Mapuna te Tamaiti’. Its purpose is to support us (kaiako/teachers) to understand and draw on effective practices that enhance children’s social and emotional competence, engagement, and learning. Please click here for more info.

What do our parents say?
We have been coming to Tahunanui Kindergarten for close to 5 years now. It has become home away from home for our children.
The Kaikako have been amazing in every aspect; guiding our children each day they are here, as well as providing our family with strategies to help with home life.
Our children have thoroughly enjoyed their time at Tahunanui Kindergarten, with our almost 7 year old occasionally saying he wants to go back!
Tahunanui Kindergarten has the perfect balance of routine and new things to try, which the children thrive from.
We love how inclusive Tahunanui Kindergarten is towards people from all walks of life and cultures. Te Reo Maori is spoken and celebrated in many different ways.
Ngā Mihi to all the Kaikako who have walked beside our children on this part of their life journey. Chloe Wells 2024

We chose Tahunanui kindergarten for our two children because of the large play area, and the feeling of inclusion and community which comes with being a part of this kindergarten whanau. The kaiako recognised our children’s unique personalities and goals, and sought to develop their creativity and confidence. Our family has thrived at Tahunanui Kindergarten and we would (and do!) recommend it to everybody! Jess Twohill 2024

Dear Tāhunanui Team,
I wanted to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude for the incredible care and support you've provided to my son during his time at your kindergarten. From the outset, it was clear that your team, including the administrative and support staff, are not only skilled educators but also genuinely caring individuals. My son flourished under your guidance, gaining confidence and developing practical, social, and emotional skills in ways that far exceeded my expectations. Your enthusiasm, kindness, and care truly made a difference in his life and to our family. I am forever grateful for the positive impact you've had on him and for fostering many skills to help him going through his different ages and stages.
I also want to commend you for the wonderful grounds and the diverse range of activities made available. The outdoor and indoor spaces provided plenty of opportunities for exploration and play, catering to children of all interests and levels. Your ability to tailor activities to suit individual needs ensured that every child felt engaged and supported in their learning journey. Furthermore, your use of technology, particularly the kindergarten application Story Park, was a fantastic way to keep parents informed and involved. I appreciated the regular updates on my son's daily activities and the personalisd notices that provided valuable insights into his development. Overall, Tahunanui Kindergarten has exceeded my expectations in every way. Your dedication, professionalism, and commitment to creating a nurturing environment for children are truly commendable. Thank you for everything you do to support young minds and hearts. With heartfelt thanks, Ventura and John 2024
