Fulfil the needs of our children and tomorrow they stand strong
Our large outdoor environments enable us to offer a wide range of activities for children to develop their physical skills and confidence; this has a direct correlation to brain development and their academic learning. To enhance what we already have in our own backyard we access Burrell Park to run Physical Fun sessions

In Harakeke we are using the language of 'Habits of Mind' to grow your child's image of themselves as a learner, their understanding of how they learn, and to challenge them to experience new ways of learning.

Please click here for more info.

At Te Rito we use the language and practices of ‘He Mapuna te Tamaiti’. Its purpose is to support us (kaiako/teachers) to understand and draw on effective practices that enhance children’s social and emotional competence, engagement, and learning. Please click here for more info.

To enhance our sustainable and environmental awareness programme our eldest 18 children visit the Teal Valley Forest Kindergarten.

What do our parents say?
"Kaiako at Tahunanui Kindergarten have helped our tamariki grow and thrive. Providing them with a fulfilling, enriching and fun experience. Our whānau have felt welcome, respected and well informed". Abbey Mortimer (2021)

"Tahunanui Kindergarten felt right for us from the start. The teaching team are awesome. Their transition to school program really helped our eldest child settle to school. It’s a wonderful place." Kaz Carr (2021)

"To the incredible team of teachers and staff at Tāhunanui kindy
My husband and I cannot thank you enough for helping us raise our son. For the last 2 years you and Te Rito have supported our parenting with fantastic opportunities for our son to learn, grow, have fun and take risks. We have seen a huge boost in confidence since being with you. He is certainly not the same reserved kid he used to be. Now he attacks new challenges with zeal... at least most of the time.🙂
We will miss being part of your community.
Love from us ❤️" (2022)

Children and families are welcome to visit us anytime.
