Te Rūma Pakeke

Te Rūma Pakeke is a vibrant, mixed age
space catering for two to five year olds.

Teachers here are seen as facilitators and collaborators. We are all learning together!
Free play is a huge part of our curriculum, and we strongly believe in giving tamariki the time and space to figure things out in their own ways.  We are always nearby to provide a helping hand, a supportive word, or a big hug!

We thrive on our whānau and community relationships and pride ourselves on being a safe place for all! We aim to create a culture of inclusion, where all are welcome and feel comfortable to stay for a catch up, a korero, a laugh, and a cuppa.

The transition to school is a huge part of our room and one that is celebrated and nurtured.  We understand it is a huge change for tamariki and whānau and are here to support that big step in any way we can.

The room caters for all interests and is constantly changing based on tamariki interests.  We value responsiveness in teaching and believe in creating an empowering space for all.  When our tamariki are able to take ownership of their learning and see that learning displayed, they can see that their ideas and values hold power.  This in turn can build  a solid foundation for lifelong learning!

We are very lucky to have close links to the Teal Valley Forest Kindergarten.  Our oldest tamariki are able to get out and learn in nature every second Tuesday.  This is a wonderful opportunity to see the amazing benefits that learning with Papatūānuku brings.  We are really able to test what our bodies can do when we get out in the big open space!

We are a diverse centre and embrace all the wonderful new learning experiences each whānau brings with them.  We look forward to meeting you and sharing in your learning adventure!
