We are looking for a passionate, energetic, and dedicated kaiako to join our team at Nelson Central Kindergarten. Whether you are an experienced or beginning teacher, we want someone who is highly motivated, reliable, and genuinely committed to fostering the learning and growth of young tamariki. At Nelson Central Kindergarten we provide a rich early childhood curriculum for tamariki aged 2 years to 6 years. Our mixed age programme holds the fundamental principles of respect, resilience, having fun, challenging oneself and kaitiakitanga.

The Successful Applicant Will:

  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and actively integrates Te Ao Māori and Te Reo Māori into teaching and learning, creating meaningful opportunities for tamariki to experience, learn about, and connect with Māori language, culture, and perspectives.

  • Values, celebrates, and promotes the diverse languages, cultures, and identities of tamariki and whānau, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels a strong sense of belonging.

  • Builds positive, respectful, and responsive relationships with tamariki, whānau, and colleagues.

  • Brings a deep passion for teaching tamariki, demonstrating initiative, self-motivation, and a commitment to ongoing professional growth.

  • Communicates effectively and works collaboratively as a positive team member, contributing to a supportive and high-performing kindergarten community.

About the Role:

The part-time position will work approximately 21 hours a week, across 5 days, with potential to moderately increase hours.
