Welcome to Motueka Kindergarten

Motueka Kindergarten is led by a passionate team of kaiako and dedicated support staff who are committed to providing a rich, high-quality learning experience for all tamariki.

Our teaching is guided by Te Whāriki, Aotearoa’s Early Childhood Curriculum, and enriched by the aspirations of Kahikatea and the values of the Enviroschools programme.

At the heart of our curriculum is a philosophy grounded in the principles of ako (reciprocal learning), aroha (love and compassion), and tangata whenuatanga (affirming Māori learners as Māori). We are committed to empowering tamariki (whakamana), building strong relationships with whānau and the wider community (whanaungatanga), supporting well-being (mana atua), and nurturing the holistic development of every child (kotahitanga).

  • “We just want to say a huge thank you for this year. We were so nervous to move our daughter from daycare to kindy, but it has been the best decision. You are all such a wonderful, dedicated bunch of Kaiako and the tamariki are very lucky to have you! The enthusiasm for daily tasks and the embracing of all cultures has been a particular highlight for us, amongst how content she has become. She has thrived with you all and has really developed her character. Thank you for loving her as much as we do :)”
