Head Teacher - Waverley Street Kindergarten

We are seeking a highly motivated, reliable, and dedicated kaiako to lead our team at Waverley Street Kindergarten beginning late January 2026. If you have proven leadership capability and experience guiding teams toward success, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
The ideal candidate will:
Lead with strong initiative and integrity
Value teamwork and open communication
Be transparent and collaborative in their leadership approach
Work alongside the team to build shared direction and a positive, cohesive culture
Be self-motivated with a genuine passion for teaching young Tamariki, including experience with toddlers
Demonstrate a strong commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and confidently implement a curriculum where all tamariki experience, learn about, and connect with Te Ao Māori
The successful candidate will also need to be confident in providing professional autonomy, trusting in the expertise of the kaiako while offering clear, supportive leadership.

Head teachers work 60% contact, 40% non-contact, including an additional 40 hours per year head reacher release. At Waverley Street Kindergarten teachers receive 15 paid professional days a year and 6 weeks annual leave.
